BIOPiotr Kurka was born in Poznań in 1958. Diploma in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, (in 1982), in the studio of prof. Jerzy Kalucki. He works with sculpture, photography, drawing, also creates experimental films and large format spatial arrangements. Professor of Intermediate and Photography Studio at the Intermedia Faculty at the Department of Multimedia Communication at the University of Fine Arts in Poznań. Editor and co-publisher of Zeszyty Artystyczne (Artistic Cahiers of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań), where he regularly published essays and comments on the latest problems and issues of contemporary art. Co-founder of the famous group: Kolo Klipsa (Circle of Clips). Participated in over 100 collective exhibitions in many countries, 35 individual exhibitions. Works in collections: National Museum in Poznan, Museum of Modern Art in Lodz, National Museum in Szczecin, Zachęta Contemporary Art in Szczecin and Poznan Laureate of scholarships, including: Pollock-Krasner Foundation, New York; Arts Link - Citizen Exchange Council, New York; Kosciuszko Foundation - ISP, New York; Rockefeller Foundation - Bellagio, Italy, Arts Link, Butte, Montana, USA and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. He lives and works in Poznan.
